CULTURAL MANAGER

I am a cultural manager and performing artist from Mexico City, based in Helsinki.

 

In 2017, I moved to Finland for my master studies in Arts Management at the Sibelius Academy, Uniarts. I hold a bachelor degree in Cultural Studies and Management by Universidad del Claustro de Sor Juana, and a specialization in Cultural Policies by Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana- Iztapalapa.


I have carried out management and production jobs in the fields of music and performing arts, for various organizations and artists in Finland and Mexico. Some examples are: Compañía Kaari & Roni Martin (Fin/2019-P.); The City of Helsinki (Fin/ 2022); Uniarts Fest (Fin/ 2019-22); MuTeFest (Fin/ 2018); April Jazz Festival (Fin/ 2018); Cultural Centre of Spain in Mexico (Mx/ 2017); Alejandro Marcovich (Mx/ 2016-17); JazzMx (Mx/ 2015-17); and Festival de Jazz ESM (Mx/ 2013-2017). Additionally, I worked as the head of author rights, press and promotion for the book publisher, Ediciones Era (Mx/ 2013-2016).

 

Currently I am co-Artistic Director of Catalysti, an association of transcultural artists, and sit at the board of TAKU, the Trade Union for Art and Culture Professionals in Finland

Key projects

As co-Artistic Director, I have been in charge of overseeing the daily operations of the association, yearly programming, and fundraising. The primary focus of my work has been to develop the operations and working practices, prioritizing principles such as transparency, fair labor, and sustainability. 

Catalysti is an association of transcultural artists in Finland that supports networking and knowledge sharing, and provides equal opportunities.

Project Producer for Kirjeitä Saaresta in Savonlinna (2023) and Anna Karenina in Helsinki (2020).

Coordinator of the company's activities for the Taidetestaajat (Art Testers) program, which included the coordination of +300 workshops for about 7,000 students of the Uusimaa region. 

Attendance to WOMEX 2019 in Tampere, Finland as the company's representative.

Personal Manager of the iconic Mexican rock guitar player and former member of Caifanes band. 

Coordination of his agenda, event booking, and tour management in different venues in Mexico, the U.S. and Central America.

Board Member and Producer. Leading and decision-making of the non-profit organization dedicated to promote jazz music in Mexico through master classes, jam sessions and concerts.

Producer of "Una noche con JazzMx" (2016) concert at Teatro de la Ciudad 'Esperanza Iris' in Mexico City. It featured Mexican jazz musicians in the program and reached an attendance of 700 people.

Head of Author Rights and Press and Promotion departments.

The main tasks were elaboration of contracts and licensing, organization of book presentations, press conferences and interviews for the media and writers. Attended to international book fairs in London, Chicago, Los Angeles and Guadalajara as a literary agent.

Production assistant in the 40th, 41st, 42nd and 43rd Jazz Festival of Escuela Superior the Música and the International Jazz Day celebrations.

Each festival consisted of 50 concerts and a total of  55 hours of music! Whereas the Jazz Day celebrations were broadcasted nationally in Radio UNAM station.

Producer of a special concert within the 43rd festival edition at the iconic Teatro de la Ciudad 'Esperanza Iris' in Mexico City.
